Megan Turton

Conversation

There are some people who spend their lives looking forwards. Megan spends hers looking backwards—not out of nostalgia, but because she believes the past still has something to teach us.

What fascinates me is that Megan lives in conversation with humanity across thousands of years. Through ancient texts, she has spent years listening to voices from distant cultures and long-forgotten worlds, discovering that, despite all that's changed, people have always been wrestling with remarkably familiar questions. Justice. Identity. Waiting. Hope. Uncertainty. Becoming.

I'm looking forward to exploring what those stories reveal about the human experience. Why do they so often place transformation in seasons of waiting, wilderness and uncertainty? What have they understood about becoming that our modern culture may have forgotten?

I have a feeling this conversation is going to remind us that hidden growth isn't a modern idea. Human beings have been trying to make sense of the mysterious work of becoming for thousands of years.

Dr Megan Turton is a biblical scholar, lecturer and researcher whose work explores the Hebrew Bible and the ways ancient texts continue to illuminate the human experience. She lectures at Whitley College and has published widely on the interpretation of biblical literature.
