03. The Weight of Grace
The Weight of Grace
From The Geography of Becoming - artworks about what it means to be human while we are changing.
Story
We often think of grace as something light and fleeting. Yet grace can also have substance. It can steady us, soften us, and invite us to live with greater compassion towards ourselves and others.
The figure in this work isn't floating away. She isn't striving. She isn't triumphant. Instead, she appears supported. Grounded. Open. Held by something larger than herself.
Combining botanical imagery with the outline of a dancing figure, this piece reflects on the experience of continuing to grow while learning to trust what sustains us. Whether viewers understand grace spiritually, relationally, or simply as kindness towards oneself, the work offers an invitation to consider the quiet strength found in tenderness, and the courage required to inhabit our lives with openness and trust.

The Weight of Grace is a meditation on the ways gentleness can sustain us, reminding us that becoming does not always require striving. Sometimes it asks us simply to receive, to trust, and to keep unfolding.
